Zhang Jianhua, Director of the National Energy Administration, recently stated that China has established a new energy full industry chain with competitive advantages, contributing more than 80% of photovoltaic modules and 70% of wind power equipment to the world.
On the same day, Zhang Jianhua introduced the above situation at the 3rd "the Belt and Road" Energy Ministers' Meeting opened in Qingdao. He said that in the past decade, China has promoted a cumulative reduction of over 60% and 80% in the average cost per kilowatt hour of global wind and photovoltaic power projects, respectively. China's wind and photovoltaic products cover more than 200 countries and regions around the world, enriching global supply and making outstanding contributions to the green transformation of energy and maintaining global energy market stability.
At the same time, the domestic new energy industry has also made rapid progress. As of the end of 2023, the installed capacity of wind and photovoltaic power generation in China has increased tenfold compared to ten years ago, and the installed capacity of clean energy power generation accounts for 58.2% of the total installed capacity. The proportion of clean energy consumption to total energy consumption has increased from 15.5% to 26.4%.
Zhang Jianhua said that China has established a complete research and development, design, and integrated manufacturing of the wind power and photovoltaic industry chain. The conversion efficiency of high-efficiency crystalline silicon, perovskite and other photovoltaic cell technologies has repeatedly broken world records, and the conversion efficiency of mass-produced crystalline silicon photovoltaic cells exceeds 25%. The large single unit capacity of onshore wind turbines has exceeded 10 megawatts, and the offshore wind turbines with a single unit capacity of 18 megawatts have been successfully shut down.
The theme of this session of the "the Belt and Road" Energy Ministers' Meeting is "Towards a New and Win win Cooperation". The energy ministers, envoys to China, and heads of major domestic energy enterprises and financial institutions of the participating countries gathered together to conduct in-depth exchanges on energy transformation and energy security, new energy storage, nuclear power technology and other topics. During the meeting, member countries of the "the Belt and Road" Energy Cooperation Partnership also held a ceremony to expand their membership.
